Jigsaw U #4 - Intership

Jigsaw U #4 - Intership

Assignment 104
1. Instructional lesson that uses at least three panes has been created
2. Explanation of lesson (verbal or written plan/storyboard) provided
3. Overview recording of lesson has been provided. (3 minutes or less)
4. Thoughtful and professional reflection has been given

1. Instructional lesson that uses at least three panes has been created
I have used all 4 panes for different resources in the lesson (please see outline below)

2. Explanation of lesson (verbal or written plan/storyboard) provided
This lesson is a test prep lesson for AP CS A. In this lesson I will  be going over what they need to know to be confident when they walk in to take the AP TEST my May. An  outline of the lesson is as follows.

Pane 1
  • Video of me talking about
  • how to sign up for the test
  • Where they can find resources
  • Going over the test prep document I have prepared and made available as an attachment
Pane 2
  • Java subset and why it is important.
I have also make this document available for download
Pane 4
  • Image of myself
  • Link to the oneNote AP CS A class notes for them to copy and keep
Pane 3
  • Exit Survey asking them about signing up for the test and if they have a testing site
3. Overview recording of lesson has been provided.
The recording can be found at
https://stream.jigsawinteractive.com/u/J0wQD9

4. Reflection
I like the pane system. It really makes you think about what you need to use each pane for and organizes your lesson. Moving from one to another is really quite easy.

Jigsaw U #3 - Making the Grade

Jigsaw U #3: Making the Grade

Assignment 103
1. Use of images, surveys, notes, or map to Pane 3 has been demonstrated.
2. Use of whiteboard, weblinks, presentations, or documents in pane 4 had been demonstrated.
3. Thoughtful and professional reflection has been given.

1. Use of images, surveys, notes, or map to Pane 3 has been demonstrated.

I created a survey that asks the students about if and how they signed up to take the exam. This is housed in pane 3 of the classroom jigsaw.

2. Use of whiteboard, weblinks, presentations, or documents in pane 4 had been demonstrated.

I did put my image on the whiteboard as leaving it in pane 3 only give a small picture.

I could will be using pane 4 to givew the students a link to the class APCS A oneNote

 3. Reflection
Using pane 4 for multiply purposes is easy but I will practice switching back and forth before the final recording. I could also create a document with a list of links that I can add as an attachment and a document and then display that document in pane 2. I could also copy and paste the link into the chat box for students to access. Putting it in as an attachment would mean that the students could have the useful links after the jigsaw class was done.

Jigsaw U #2 - Going to class

Jigsaw U - Session #2, Going to class

Assignment 102
1. Use of audio, video or webcam in Pane 1 has been demonstrated.
2. Use of presentation/document/screen share in Pane 2 has been demonstrated.
3. Thoughtful and professional reflection has been given.

1. Use of video in Pane 1

I have a video that I will be using to show the students how to prepare for the ap test. Here is a screenshot of it in my assets, showing that it can appear in pane 1.

Here is the video in Pane 1 in my Jigsaw classroom

2. Use of presentation/document/screen share in Pane 2 has been demonstrated.
There is a welcome presentation in my pane 2 of my jigsaw classroom

3. Thoughtful and professional reflection has been given.
I have put a video in pane 1 and a document in pane 2. I can that the document in pane 2 is not readable and I would have to use the magnifying glass to show the students during the presentation. I would have to edit this document and make the font much bigger. I did attach it at an asset in both document and as an attachment so that the student can download and keep for their files.

4. Reflection
I think the best advice is plan what you want to say for your session and then put in the assets that you want to use. Before doing the final recording or session, practice with the assets   and how you are going to use them. I might also pretend that one asset is not there and then try to add it on the fly as the session is being recorded.

Creating your session - recommendations
  • Leave session open -set date as far out as you can.
  • Limit the time that people can join - 5 or 10 minutes in advance
  • Lock the board - you do not want people to draw on it
  • Do not allow direct chats - no private chats, you can see private chats in report
  • Do not set up a password entry

Important questions
What do I need?
